Yes...you read that title correctly!!! You can now pick your jaws up off the floor and continue reading. Though...I think Nate and I's jaws still need to be picked up!!! :) What a shocking surprise this has been! Here we tried for Griffin for 2 years with much medical intervention and then boom! Baby #2 is on it's way!!!
We found out about a month ago. I was really sick with bronchitis and ended up in the ER one night due to a horrible coughing spell that caused me to have difficulty breathing. I was prescribed a heavy duty cough syrup and for some reason I just figured I'd take a test to make sure I was NOT pregnant. Honestly, I had no clue at all...never in my wildest dreams did I think I would see the word, "pregnant," but sure enough...I did! Nate ran to the pharmacy...walked in the door and I told him to come upstairs. I said, "Uhh...this thing says I'm pregnant?!" His response was, "That's awesome!" I was freaking out asking who, what, where, when, how, etc.
I got in touch with our OB here in town, as well as the fertility clinic we worked with before Griffin. I am on meds to help carry the pregnancy and have had blood work done twice to confirm it.
Once it was confirmed by the blood work, Nate and I were thinking back and had to laugh. We could think of 2 days that I felt really sick to my stomach and had to eat crackers and ginger ale(I'm now on 2 different meds 2x a day to help with the sickness which is keeping me alive at this point! Praise God for Zofran and Phenergan!). Still...at that time, I had no clue or even had the thought of possibly being pregnant. Wowsers!!!
So, today we had our first ultrasound. The charts said I was 10 weeks along putting the due date at June 21st, but lil' peanut only measured 8 weeks and 5 days moving the due date to June 30th. We did see a good strong heartbeat which was at 186bpm.
I did have a large cyst on an ovary, so will have an additional ultrasound to follow that. Should it grow larger, surgery will be scheduled. However, it should resolve on it's own. I had the same issue with Griffin, too and it all turned out just fine, so I'm confident it will this time, as well!
So, that's our big news! Still hard to fathom, but we are excited! Not going to lie...we are overwhelmed, too! We feel extremely blessed that God has chosen us to be parents again to another precious being.
February 15th will be our big day to find out the gender if our peanut cooperates. We are totally okay with a boy or a girl. We're not choosy as it's a blessing either way! All that matters is that it's a healthy baby! Life is good and we're blessed and grateful!
Not much else to add to that! :)

Joy, Nate, Griffin, and Baby #2
